Fee Information

Dr. Shih has a fee for service practice. A receipt will be provided which can then be submitted to a third party payer for reimbursement. Payment is requested at time of service.

Dr. Shih is a board-certified, licensed general psychiatrist. She sees adolescents, young adults, and adults for evaluation and management of medications. She often works with local therapists, dieticians, and primary care providers as part of a comprehensive treatment team. Dr. Shih also provides individual psychotherapy for some types of insomnia, mood, and anxiety difficulties. Areas of special interest are mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders (panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias), eating disorders, and sleep and insomnia problems.

Dr. Shih believes that treatment involves attentive listening and patient education, along with the latest knowledge of psychiatric medications. Before making any recommendations, a thorough evaluation is done, and a variety of treatment options are considered.

Education & Training

Dr. Shih graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with dual degrees in Biology and Classical Humanities. She received her medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL. Dr. Shih completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Michigan, where she also served as Departmental Chief Resident. She has subsequently worked as an attending psychiatrist at the University of Michigan Psychiatric Emergency Services, and at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Shih is now an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer for the University of Michigan Medical School; she teaches residents and medical students. Dr. Shih is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
